The role requires strong analytical and creative skills, along with in-depth knowledge of data systems and database methodology, design and modeling. Strong communication skills are needed in order to plan and coordinate data resources. Employers generally seek a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, as well as experience with Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server or other databases in various operating system environments, such as Unix, Linux, Solaris and Microsoft Windows.
