We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the Higher Education sector, located in Columbia, South Carolina. This role involves managing a complex portfolio of grants and contracts, ensuring compliance with federal and state requirements, and providing guidance to University departments in the management of funds.
Responsibilities:
• Manage a complex portfolio of more than 300 grants and contracts
• Analyze grant activity for compliance with federal and state requirements
• Prepare quarterly and annual federal financial reports
• Ensure maintenance of effort and matching requirements are met
• Accurately request, receive, and expend federal funds in accordance with the Federal Cash Management improvement Act
• Provide guidance and technical assistance to University departments in the management of federal, state, and other grants funds
• Ensure all funds received are accurately reported in a timely manner
• Process accounts payable and receivable
• Handle bank reconciliations and maintain the general ledger
• Prepare journal entries and manage month-end close
• Utilize financial software such as People Soft, NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP.
• Possess strong proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management
• Have a solid understanding and experience with Bank Reconciliations
• Must be well-versed in General Ledger maintenance and management
• Should have the ability to create and manage Journal Entries accurately
• Experience with Month End Close procedures is required
• Familiarity with NetSuite for accounting tasks is necessary
• Must have working knowledge of Oracle for financial data management
• Experience with QuickBooks for accounting procedures is essential
• Should be proficient in using SAP for financial data processing
