We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Data Engineer in the manufacturing industry, based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States. The successful candidate will interact with various team members across the company, handling a variety of tasks related to database administration, data engineering, and data science.
Responsibilities:
• Ensuring the functionality, backup, and maintenance of Azure, on-premises Microsoft, and Postgres databases.
• Collaborating with the Network Administrator to ensure connectivity and security.
• Assisting in data migrations and ETL for system upgrades or implementations.
• Administering software, BI, and reporting tools like SSRS, Phocas, Grow, and Power Query/BI.
• Creating quality data schemas, maintaining 3rd normal form, and managing primary key, foreign key, constraints, and indexes.
• Writing complex T-SQL queries to efficiently generate data for reports, BI Tools, and applications.
• Writing scripts and backend code (e.g., PowerShell, PHP, C#, Node/Next.js) to convert queries into scheduled jobs and API endpoints.
• Populating AI/ML models and services with relevant data to generate valuable datasets for applications and BI tools, considering data security and potential risks.
• Creating and training AI models using the Python data science stack and Azure resources. Models that can re-train on new data to produce valuable datasets for our applications and BI tools.
• Building and implementing services and endpoints to make the data available for our applications and BI tools.
• Minimum 3 years of experience working as a Data Engineer or in a related role within the manufacturing industry
• Proficiency in data engineering tools such as Apache Kafka, Apache Pig, and Apache Spark
• Familiarity with Cloud Technologies and AWS Technologies
• Experience in Data Visualization and Algorithm Implementation
• Strong analytical skills, with a proven track record in Analytics
• Knowledge of Apache Hadoop and its application in data engineering
• Experience in API Development
• Proficiency in SSIS SSRS and Microsoft SSRS
• Familiarity with Machine Learning technologies, AI engineering, and AI platforms
• Ability to leverage Machine Learning in data engineering tasks
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred
