Job Title: Systems and Network Administrator
Location: ON SITE - City of Industry
Job Type: Contract
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Systems and Network Administrator to provide essential support and management for our computer systems, network infrastructure, and servers. In this role, you will oversee a wide range of technologies, from cloud services to on-premise systems, ensuring high availability and performance across critical applications. You will be responsible for the administration of servers, systems, and network components while collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to maintain system integrity and optimize performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage cloud-based solutions and services, with a focus on Microsoft technologies including Office 365 and related platforms.
- Perform Windows server administration, including managing Active Directory, Group Policies, MS Exchange Server, MS SQL, and other enterprise applications.
- Manage and maintain Meraki wireless infrastructure, ensuring peak performance and adequate coverage across the organization.
- Oversee and ensure proper operation of networked systems, including servers, wireless transceivers, and hardware in critical applications.
- Lead systems and network engineering projects as a subject matter expert in areas such as Public/Private Cloud, Windows, and LAN/WAN infrastructure.
- Supervise vendor relationships, ensuring timely delivery and accuracy for outsourced projects.
- Provide support for VoIP systems and coordinate with PBX vendors for issue resolution.
- Manage the technical infrastructure related to warehouse management systems, including wireless barcode scanners and connectivity with external partners.
- Oversee the upgrade and patching of servers and systems, ensuring compliance with manufacturer service packs and firmware recommendations.
- Conduct regular system and log reviews, implement backup/recovery procedures, and maintain production system integrity.
- Troubleshoot and resolve Windows application and network-related issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Deploy in-house applications to staging and production environments, managing system configurations for controlled software rollouts.
- Ensure the proper configuration of Storage Area Networks (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS), and related technologies.
- Support the development and maintenance of disaster recovery plans for IT infrastructure.
- Participate in Change Management processes to ensure standardized product releases and adherence to production policies.
- Ensure network-related projects, including the installation and maintenance of routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers, are completed efficiently and according to schedule.
- Perform network audits to assess efficiency and recommend upgrades as needed.
- Provide after-hours and weekend support as part of a rotating team to ensure consistent system availability.
- Travel approximately 35-45% of the time to various locations within the Western United States, including occasional overnight trips.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficient in administering Microsoft server environments, Exchange, SQL Server, and related services.
- Extensive experience with cloud technologies, including virtualization, O365, and cloud platform management.
- In-depth knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, Cisco configurations, firewalls, and VPN management.
- Familiarity with data storage technologies such as SAN, NAS, and Hyper-Converged Infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of security best practices as applied to network and IT infrastructure.
- Experience with project management, capable of working independently and with minimal supervision.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a strong ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams.
- High attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field with 2-4 years of experience in network and server administration, or equivalent experience.
- Alternatively, a two-year degree or certification in Computer Systems with 5 years of professional IT experience in a multi-location environment.
Certifications:
- Cisco CCNA/CCNP or equivalent.
- MCSA Windows Server 2012 or newer.
- MCSA SQL Server 2012 or newer.
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) for Windows Server.
Physical Demands:
This position requires the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. frequently, and occasionally lift heavier items up to 50 lbs. or more. The role also requires frequent walking, standing, and occasional climbing or balancing.
