2025 Canadian Salary Guide From Robert Half: Behind the Numbers

Salaries and Roles Salary and hiring trends Job Market Workplace Research Compensation and Benefits Article
Keeping tabs on compensation and hiring trends is key to companies’ ability to attract the talent that will allow them to grow and outshine their competitors.  That’s why we publish a salary guide each year. The Canadian Salary Guide From Robert Half features starting salary ranges for hundreds of positions across the accounting and finance, technology, marketing and creative, administrative and customer support, legal, and human resources fields. The guide includes exclusive data gathered from recent Robert Half surveys and salary information for professionals we’ve matched with employers across the country.
The starting salaries listed in the Robert Half Canada Salary Guide are the result of a rigorous, multistep process to ensure they accurately reflect the marketplace. The projections for each position are based on actual compensation for professionals Robert Half has matched with employers across Canada, and third-party job posting data from Textkernel that we use to independently validate the salary ranges. Using state-of-the-art large language models, we consider the current and expected demand for each position, the supply of talent, and other market conditions. We gain additional insights from our talent solutions professionals’ knowledge of their local markets.  Our salary numbers represent starting compensation only, meaning pay for someone new to a company in the position listed. Our estimates do not include bonuses,  benefits or perks. Since professionals joining a company may enter at a variety of experience levels, we report salaries across three percentiles.  In addition to being able to see the different salary starting points, many of our clients also want to see the low and high end of the average starting salary range, as well as what they’d have to pay to attract candidates at various levels of experience, expertise and market demand.  The salary percentiles are based on the following candidate attributes: 25th: The candidate is new to the role and building the needed skills, experience and autonomy. 50th: The candidate has the experience to perform core responsibilities without direct supervision and is comfortable with the role’s processes and subject matter. 75th: The candidate delivers value beyond the stated job duties, has advanced qualifications and experience, and is ready for the next career level.
The salary ranges we list are national averages. Since compensation can vary significantly by geographic location, we provide local variances in the guide, and you can use our Salary Calculator to adjust salaries to your specific market in Canada.  We determine the local variances based on input from our local management teams and their knowledge of their markets, including: Local economic conditionsCost of livingJob growthWage growthHiring demand and the ability to attract skilled talentVariances for neighbouring cities in the region or similar cities in the country For candidates in very high demand, businesses may have to offer a higher salary than what’s listed in the Salary Guide. A compensation boost may also be necessary if the company doesn’t offer attractive benefits and perks, including flexible and remote work arrangements.
