Credit and Collections Specialist Job Description

Credit and collections specialists should have excellent customer service, negotiation, communication and analytics skills. A bachelor’s or associate degree in accounting or a related area is preferred.

Typical credit/collections specialist duties:

Creating and maintaining credit history filesAnalyzing and assessing the creditworthiness of accounts and clients using external credit risk management tools and reportsSupporting the collection efforts/calls for accounts receivable portfolioDocumenting daily collections activityResearching account disputes and billing discrepanciesPerforming account and payment reconciliationsResponding to credit inquiries from external and internal clientsIdentifying delinquent accounts requiring external collection effortsIdentifying bad debt or financial exposure
